Last day of May! It has been a great month -- a marathon on the 6th, Mother's day, gorgeous weather, fun runs, my birthday today . . . May rocks!

And, I have the winner of the Sony W-series MP3 player to announce. Yes, I meant to announce it yesterday but the day got away from me. We were busy up here in Happy Runner-ville. Anyway, the winner is . . .

Springtime and Larabars.

Happy spring!

We've been having serious spring weather here in upstate New York -- temps in the 70s all week. And sunny! It's great. There are only a few downsides, including that my younger son has discovered the sand table and decided that sand tastes great (so I'm digging sand out of his mouth all the time). He also likes to track it through the house. All over the house. Gosh, I love to sweep.

Anyway, spring. It's a wonderful season.

Aside from this being the first day of spring, it is also time to announce the winner of my Larabar giveaway! Thanks to everyone who entered. I could only pick one of you and I did so using random.org. The lucky winner is . . .

Kris at Random Thoughts

Congratulations, Kris! Shoot me an email (felicehalf at yahoo dot com) with your address and I'll get you your bars!

Second things second . . .

We've had unbelievable weather this year, with very, very little snow and warm-ish temps. It's been great for my marathon training long runs. Unfortunately, it hasn't made all that much difference for my regular, during-the-week runs because my schedule is such that I can't get outside for many of those runs. No matter. The nice weather just makes life easier and it certainly makes the weekend longs runs way better.

Yesterday was pretty warm and pleasant but I had to hit the treadmill for my run. The kids were super and entertained themselves in the basement while I ran 7.5 miles, mostly at an easy pace but finishing with 1.5 miles at slightly faster than marathon goal pace. Loved it!

Another 'mill run on the schedule today. My fingers are crossed for well behaved boys today, too!

 Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Who's the winner?

Not me, that's for sure. See, I've been as sick as a cat lately. ("Sick as a cat?" You think it's "sick as a dog," right? Well, I don't know about dogs. I do know about cats and I know that they -- or, at least, my cat -- get sick Every. Single. Day. so I'm going with "sick as a cat.")

Yup, sick as a cat. It's just been awful. So, I'm behind. Behind on everything. I've had to scramble to finish some freelance work, I've missed my scheduled runs, my house is a mess, and I haven't blogged. Well, that's what happens, I guess.

At least now I'm getting to the blog.

And good thing, because I have a Bob Harper Kettlebell DVD winner to announce! Yay!

Using random.org, I chose a winner from all of your entries (you guys really wanted to win this one!) and the winner is . . .

Catey from Losing It

Congratulations, Catey! Send me an email at felicehalf at yahoo dot com so you can get going with the kettlebells!

Now, I've got to get back to doing something about those piles of laundry and dishes and the toys that are everywhere. So, have a good day, everyone. I hope to be back with more running stuff tomorrow!

Yeah, I know, the toddler is pantless. It happens!

Thanks to Shutterfly for this giveaway! I hope to be posting some other giveaways soon.

Have a great day!

And now, some pics of the Halloween that was:

My little not-so-happy Jack O'Lantern, waiting for big brother's Halloween parade to start.

Commander Conal! Astronaut boy at his preschool Halloween party. Loading up on the goodies.

Trick-or-treating! That's me with the baby (he was slightly happier there) and Janis.

All the kids, ready to trick-or-treat!

We had a fun, exhausting day. Today, I need to hit the road and run some good miles!

Happy November, everyone!

Rejection!

My little guy's birthday has come and gone. He's no longer "almost 1." He's a full-fledged 1 year-old!

We had a party with some of our terrific friends and family, and then my SIL from Mississippi and her family came up for a visit. We rarely get to see them so it was a real treat. While they were here, we toured a working farm about 45 minutes south of where I live. Horses, cows, acres of vegetables -- it was pretty cool.

We even rode in the back of a pickup truck:

That's me and the little birthday boy riding in the truck!

I got in a run on Saturday and one on Monday and since they both felt pretty good, I'm hoping I'm back. I don't want to bore everyone with my Lyme disease tribulations so I'll just say this: I am no longer accepting my symptoms. Instead, I am channeling my inner Marshall Ulrich who, while running across country and facing a debilitating foot injury decided not to accept the foot pain. As he writes in his book Running on Empty:

The morning after my MRI in Colorado, I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at my fat foot, so swollen it felt alien to me . . .

Turning to Heather, I disowned my foot. Instead of embracing the pain, I rejected it completely.

'This foot doesn't belong to me anymore. It doesn't fit in with who I am, what I'm trying to do, or where I'm going. This is not my foot.'

That's my deal. My symptoms don't fit in with who I am or what I am trying to do. I will continue to take supplements and do the right thing but I will reject the pain completely. So, there.

In the midst of partying and running and pickup truck riding, I also had that little Go Band giveaway going on. And, yuppers, I picked a winner.

Congratulations, Mackenzie from Wealth is Health!  Email me (felicehalf at yahoo dot com) with your address so I can send you your Go Band! You'll LOVE it, I am sure!

I know it is already Wednesday but I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm in post-party, post-house guests catch up mode! Watch out . . .
