Get shorty.

November in upstate New York is usually chilly, with an average high for the month of 48 degrees. Today, though, is sunny and the forecast calls for a high of 65. Yay! This will make two days in a row: Yesterday was sunny and warm with temps in the high 60s. Yes, I ran in shorts!

Running in shorts in November is just a real treat for this runner. Last week, I was bundled up in running pants and a jacket. To wear my favorite shorts and a t-shirt made me feel a little like a kid out there. I felt fast! Not that I was, of course, I just felt that way.

Speaking of fast . . .

As I was running up a moderately steep hill yesterday, I saw a guy up ahead of me on his bike. A cyclist, slick cycling outfit and all. I ran at a steady pace, gaining on him at every step. As I got closer to him (I was on the opposite side of the road, running facing traffic), he must have heard me (am I really that loud??) because he looked back at me and then he tried to speed up. I just kept running, quickly passing him and putting space between us.

Until we crested the hill when he flew by me on the downhill. But he was coasting.

The whole thing just made me chuckle a little because he definitely did not like getting passed on that hill. After all, he was on a bike. Now, I'm no cyclist so I have no idea if it is easier to run or ride uphill. But it would seem to me that using a two-wheeled machine would give you an advantage over just using your body.

Anyway, passing Mr. Coaster, along with being able to run in shorts and a t-shirt, made me feel pretty fleet of feet yesterday. What a way to end a great weekend (freshly highlighted hair, a dinner party, a birthday party, three great runs, re-arranged the family room, lots of fun . . . )!

I hope to feel fast again today. I'll be running in shorts, for sure!

Happy Monday, everyone!

Sounds like you had the same weather we had here, perfect! LOL on passing the cyclist on the hill... if it was me on the bike... you'd pass me too. LMAO I suck at hill climbing whether on the bike or my feet. Have a great week!

That is too cool... to be speedier than a bike! Well done. I would imagine that will keep you smiling for weeks :)

This is a total HAppy Runner post. I think it may be a little harder to ride up a hill, depending on how steep it is. Funny that he did not want to get passed.

Way to go. Picture of the highlighted hair Pretty please :)

I am loving the warm weather here too! it was nice this morning and i was sweating my face off because I dressed too warmly! I think the biker was just being lazy on the hill...who knows though!

Isn't this weather nuts? I'm hoping it sticks around for another 2 weeks so it's not freezing for the marathon.

Nice job passing him! Bet he loved that!

It's gorgeous here too! I was thinking of how beautiful it was while I was on the daggone mill (no school for T2 today - waaaahhhh!).

I'm not a great cyclist, but I find it easier to run up hills than bike them. Many times I've glanced at my Garmin while biking up a hill, and seen the pace as something I could run. It gets tempting to get off and walk, but then you let the hill win!

What an invigorating weekend! I love when you pass someone you don't know if you could! Also I just marveled today that today I was running shorts and a tshirt. I love it. Last year I was running layers and layers.

As a very amateur cyclist, I can say that biking uphill isn't a piece of cake. I think I'd rather run uphill and that's saying a lot because I HATE hills. :) However, it sounds like you beat someone who was actually serious about it. That's awesome! Go go fleet feet!

I'm a total ninny! On Sunday when we ran, I couldn't wait to wear tights because it was so cold...62 degrees. Oh brrr!!

i am no cyclist either (just casually), but running uphill is definitely easier (for me) than biking. i'm pretty sure that "regular bikers" would pass me on an uphill, but who knows. either way, WAY TO GO YOU! :)

Funny, two weeks ago I signed up for a gym because I couldn't bear the cold winter this year to run in and had been running on the treadmill for a couple of days when all of a sudden the weather man treated us to a couple of nice days in a row. It really is a treat to be out there this time of year. No end in sight either...LOVE IT!!

Sounds like a great run Felice! To day that I am pissed that I have not been able to run in this beautiful weather is an understatement.

Passing a guy on a bike is hard core in my book!
