The upside of worrying.

Sunday's migraine scared me out of my run yesterday. I was still feeling a bit off and, frankly, I was a little too nervous to go for a run. So I worked out with my tv instead.

It was all upper body yesterday and I'm feeling it today.

I started out with my push ups and then moved on to Jackie Warner's upper body workout. I finished with some more push ups and a bunch o' crunches. These push ups are kinda killing me. And the added weight workout has made these wobbly arms of mine a little sore today.

I consider that the upside of worrying that I'll get another migraine: Stronger upper body. And I'll take it. After my last race, I realized that I need to strengthen my arms especially but I hadn't been doing anything about it. No longer. It's been almost three weeks since I renewed my commitment to the push ups and upper body strength. I feel some improvement. Not a ton, but some. And some is better than none.

What's more, this sun -- as in remarkably sunny November days -- is better than none. I know I go on and on about it but, wow, I just love it. Love this sunshine! Now, I'm just hoping that the weather is perfect this weekend for everyone running the Philadelphia Marathon. 55 and overcast? (But sunny in upstate NY?)

My fingers are crossed :-)

It's probably best you listen to your body and skip a run when you're still not feeling right. Good girl! :)

Yay for upper body strength! Which reminds me... I totally forgot to do my Push-ups challenge this week! FAIL! :(

I hope you feel better and the migraines go away (and stay away)!
Good job with the upper body strength.

I totally need something to scare me into doing some upper body work. Now that I'm not carrying kids around, my arms are getting wimpy.

Great job following through and working on those arms. I need to use some of your dedication. :) I've been working them once or twice a week at fitness classes, but never get around to anything at home.

Keep it up!

I love the sun too, especially in winter in the north! It's so much easier to get out of bed on a sunny morning than on an overcast one. :D

I'm forcing myself to put running on the backburner (Even while training) and remember to do other things I LOVE since well I'm prone to burn out plus I don't feel good when other parts of me aren't tone!

I wish we had sun! Sunshine in the fall makes for perfect running. Hoping for sunshine for all the races this weekend!

You should take a picture of your guns when you're done! I bet it's a bigger improvement than you think :)

Great job working on that upper body strength. Push-ups are such a killer. I'm sorry about the migraines. Hopefully they'll stay away.

Glad you are feeling better! The sun really has been nice but I have been missing it since I work indoors in a building with no windows. I usually see it at 4pm but its not enough!!

Hey - yes my son is wearing a JMU shirt! I went there, graduated in 1989. My husband in 1988. When did your husband and BIL graduate? So funny. I love JMU!

Migraines HAVE to SUCK! I don't get them but I emphasize with those who do.

I'm working on strength too. I want to be one of those runners in the running tank with muscle definition in my biceps and triceps. :)

Glad you are able to find the silver lining in between all of this. Happy a strong upper body ain't bad at all!

Good job on the upper body work! I've been trying to get more consistent with that too, and it does make a difference.

I need to get better at the arms too! The push up challenge has been helping, but I feel like I need to do more!

Good job making the most out of the day.. My sister gets Migraines and is always so fearful of doing things that spark her headaches..

There are sooo many Bloggers running Philly, I hope the weather is nice.

The sun came out for about 30 minutes yesterday here...thankfully it was during my run..

i know how you feel, kind of. i'm a little leary of running/working out in general because i don't want to induce nausea! heck, i'm actually nervous about driving in the car for more than an hour (possible nausea) or looking at my phone too much...

i'm sure your body enjoyed a little extra rest. well, minus your arms :) here's to a migraine-free, excellent-run thursday! (and friday, saturday, sunday....)

I've never had running-induced migraines, but I have had migraines brought on by other things, and it makes for a really crummy association I totally understand being reluctant to get back out there, but it's great that you're still pushing yourself.

And I'm sure you'll be back to the roads soon enough!

I miss Jackie Warner's show on Bravo. It really wasn't about working out, but the dysfunction in her gym was fascinating!

Can you share more about the Jackie Warner workout? Is it the DVD that she made on her show? I've considered getting it, but never really got around to it. Please let me know how you like (or dislike?) it. I appreciate any input!
