I could use some advice.
My ankle is feeling much, much better. It is still a little bit swollen and a little bit bruised but it feels pretty good. So good that I went out for a run yesterday. Not as good as I thought so I was only able to manage a mile on the roads because of the pain when running up and down the hills. I did the rest of my run on the flat treadmill and it was fine.
Now, I rested for three days and iced, compressed and elevated. Is there anything else I should do? Should I wear my little ace bandage thingy while running? (I've been wearing it mostly for the compression, but it does stabilize the ankle a bit.) Or is that overkill?
** For the record: I did not hurt my ankle on a run. I hurt it while barely moving. I was picking out cheese and I tripped over a wrinkled floor mat.

Ankle advice.

I would say keep it wrapped up - The compression will help it. Take some ibuprofen (or something) as well to reduce swelling. The longer you stay off it, the faster it will heal BUT if you run on it, it will still heal but will take a lot longer.
No idea...I would require a doctor because I'm an unknowledgable wimp. I hope you feel better!
I would try wearing the bandage while running just because your ankle is probably a little weak and can use the extra support, plus it can be vulnerable to twisting at this point and the brace should help prevent that. The only issue I found with the brace is that while it allowed me to run without ankle pain, it irritated my arch. Hope it feels much, much, much better soon!
Yikes. I don't know what to tell you since I haven't had any ankle issues but the ladies before me seem to know ;-) Hope that baby gets better soon!
I would wear it, just for precaution! Hope you feel better soon, and I would totally do the clutzy thing and trip over a floormat too, especially while picking out cheese. :)
I would wear the ace bandage. It will provide more support to your ankle. Don't forget to ice after you run too.
I dont have anything either...just thoughtsvisions of healing.
Try staying off your feet when you can (easier said than done, huh?) And keep the bandage on for a bit. When it feels better, try some mild stretching.
You might be overloaded by now, but I say Physical Therapy exercises have been the only thing to truly help me get over injuries. They use both the muscle and muscles around it to help gather strength... also a fan of BioFreeze for muscle issues.
I'd say have it wrapped while you run...at least for first few days. Just be sure to leave enough give and space so you don't cut off the circulation and allow your leg to move some while running.
My two cents.
