Today marks the beginning of National Volunteer Week. Volunteers rock! If you don't have time to volunteer or just aren't sure what to do, an easy thing is to donate some healthy food to your local food pantry. Food pantries are in desperate need of food and healthy food is best. Just make sure it is non-perishable.
Also this week, Wednesday is Earth Day. I'm celebrating by hosting a toddler playdate (with 7 toddlers!) where we'll do some earthy crafts. And I'm going for trash pickup. If I start this week, I figure I can make it a habit and before you know it I'll be dubbed The Trash Lady and litter as we know it will be a thing of the past. Too optimistic? You don't think that me picking up trash in the 10 or so square miles that I walk/run/travel will have an effect on the world at large? You could be right. But, I've got to start somewhere.
So, OK, maybe you'll pick up some trash, too? Maybe just a piece here and there? It will help expand my reach . . . thanks!
You know what else is going on this week? Yes! The Boston Marathon! I will be glued to my computer, watching the race on Universal Sports. You can access the coverage here. Woo hoo! Go Kara! And go running blogger friends! I'm rooting for you all.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Thanks for the link! I am excited about the boston marathon tomorrow too!
Thx for the link. One of my colleagues is doing Boston tomorrow. Woot!
Thanks for the link...I'll be watching tomorrow from work, too. Wish I was there.
I did not know it was National Volunteer week- you are right, Volunteers do rock!!
And, like many, I will also be watching on my computer tomorrow (at work- so in hiding).
Thanks for the reminder...you have motivated me to go on trash pick up duty in the neighborhood, too.
i ran for 10k with an empty gel in my hand cuz i didn't want to litter :) Looking forward to watching Boston tomorrow!
7 toddlers?!? You are ambitious. Just harness their energy for the trash pick-up and you'll have no problem.
thanks for the link, I was wondering where I could get coverage of the race tomorrow.
7...did you say seven..I'm having a melt down thinking about it
Oh man I totally forgot about earth day. Thats for the reminder. Have a great week and fun with those kids. thats a work out in itself
:( stupid work internet! can't get the video to play, just a black screen. i'm reading the commentary though and have some people in my "tracking".
Yay for earth week!
Rock on volunteerism!
Thanks for the comment on my race. Wasn't it fun watching the Boston Marathon. I was screaming at my desk for Kara.
Picking up litter is a great idea! I promise to do my part around here, too.
