Habits.

If it really takes 21 days for something to become a habit, I have a long way to go before running doubles becomes one. But I'm on my way. I ran twice again yesterday and it felt pretty good. I could get used to this!

I could also -- I hope -- get used to not complaining. I'm trying. Last week, Sarah wrote about how she's planning to be complaint free for a week, based on the concept in Will Bowen's book, A Complaint Free World: How to Stop Complaining and Start Enjoying the Life You Always Wanted. I'm nothing if not a copycat this week so I decided to think about this whole idea and try it out myself.

You know, the whole concept makes sense. And, if you think of my earlier copycat post where I talked about how you are what you repeatedly do, then it follows that if you repeatedly complain then you are a complainer. Which means you probably aren't doing anything about the thing you are complaining about.

So, consider it done. I'm striving to be less of a complainer. I may not become complaint free, at least not right away, but I'll be on my way. And running doubles while I'm at it!

excellent idea. i can be captain complainer when the mood strikes. will try to limit it myself.

always good to try and improve ourselves in areas like this too. sometimes i can catch myself being negative/whiney, but i know sometimes i am quite quite whiney.

nice job on the doubles!! keep it up:)

YEAHHH for complaint free time!! i have been trying to very hard this last year to focus on the positive, it doesn't always happen but life is so much more pleasant for me and those around me when the complaining stops

Hooray for two-a-days and no complaining! I try really hard not to complain, too. :) It just makes you happier if you focus on the good stuff...

Great job running twice! Never done that before, but I did a different challenge the other day, took a quick bike ride after a nine miler. I try not to complain too, when I do I look around at my life and realize I really have nothing to bitch about! : )

Awesome that you got out there again yesterday! I would love to make a habit of it, at least once a week or so, if I could drag myself out of bed in the mornings. Apparently it's good training for running on tired legs.

I ran doubles a few times training for the half, and I have to say I quite liked it. I have visions of running as my commute (about 3 miles to work and back) but not when it's 100+ at night.

And I agree, I try to reign in the complaints. If we all focused a little more on what was right (myself included), and not so much about what was wrong, we could all get on with the enjoyin' a lot more. :)

Congrats on the double runs. I don't think I would enjoy that.:) I've always thought complaining says more about us then who or what we're complaining about. Your post has inspired me to work on being more positive.

Well, at least you won't be able to complain about running doubles!! That's something I think is worth a complaint.

thanks for the shout out :) so far the week has been educational for me if nothing else! i definitely think twice when i complain now, which usually leads me to the conclusion that it's not worth complaining in the first place.

i like what laura said above, as well.

Running doubles and no complaining? Excellent goals. My sister read that book and said it's great.

Great goal. I've tried to stop complaining, but I found that I complain even without realizing/meaning to. It's so hard! I admire you for doing this!
One habit I am working on is quitting eating multiple desserts every night, haha. I'm on day 5!

I like that idea, plus the idea of not making excuses. Of course we do make excuses sometimes and sometimes they are valid but i guess we need to take responsibility for stuff. Ok rant over! sorry...your post just made me think about that!

I will have to see if i can get that book from my library and see if it works. I taught myself to be more optimistic and less negative last year while training for the marathon and lo and behold, it took! So I do believe you can change your habits, thanks for suggesting this book.
