What gives?

OK, I know that my favorite running pants are charcoal gray. And I know that my windbreaker is charcoal gray. And I had an inkling that my windbreaker was not the most streamlined jacket in the world.

What I did not know is that charcoal gray over charcoal gray is dreary. Worse, baggy charcoal gray over charcoal gray is dreary and frumpy.

And this, dear Internets, is how I apparently look while running in the winter: Dreary and frumpy.

I give you the evidence:

Ouch. Good thing I was wearing my pink cap. The black headband would have been too much!

So, this happy runner needs to rethink the running jacket. Maybe electric blue? Neon pink? Obnoxious orange? Definitely something with some color and maybe a little bit of a better fit. Sheesh!

Chalk this up to a lesson learned!

Post-race, I've been feeling great. I took Monday off completely and did an easy workout yesterday. We'll see what today brings. There will certainly be NO outdoor running because we're getting walloped with snow. It's pretty and all, but it a lot and it just isn't stopping. Yikes!

Have a great day, everyone!

ha, yeah I guess I have mostly dark things too. Maybe we should invest in some bright yellow winter running gear! :) Although I don't think you look frumpy!

I've been trying to brighten up my winter wardrobe ... hoping to take my mind of the dreary weather!

Something fluorescent would be great on top. :)

I need a new bright jacket too! I would love an orange one and right now things should be on sale but the key is finding them and finding them in my size!

I love dark colors. OK, I love one dark color - black. Then one day I was driving and coming out of full sun into a shady part of the street at the last moment I noticed a runner in a dark outfit. I almost hit him. He was running the route I often run in my black outfit. Now some of my running clothes are a bit more colorful. Still black is my favorite color :)

My vote is for bright pink. :) I used to go out in all black thinking 'I look thin', then I realized 'I look boring', now it's all about the pink!

I always wear dark colors on the bottom and try to change it up with the running top or Bondi-band. At least your hat is pinkish.

I love the pink cap so perhaps you should get a pink jacket to match! :)

I think you look great! I like the pink cap! Who knows, a bright springy color may put a little more spring in your step! I vote for neon pink!:)

I have a tendency to be all in black. Luckily the 2 new pairs of shoes I got are orange and green respectively. They brighten things up.

I feel ya on the dark colors, I've had to get some pink stuff to give my running outfits a little pop. Good luck!

I did my long run today since it looks like we're getting walloped again. YUCK!

I love my bright red running jacket - I found it at Target (love that place), & it keeps me visible :)

I wear so much black. I realized one day that I should wear a bright hat. I have been trying to wear more of my bright jacket/shirts lately but when it is really cold I wear my black Run LIke A Girl because it is so cozy and warm. Go shop!!! You can do it online even when it is snowing hard!

I've got a bright pink jacket - it brightens things up, and I feel like it makes me more visible to cars. It also looks really good with my neon orange construction worker reflective vest over it. :)

I always wear black, because it is slimming and hides my sweat marks... hee hee

The hat makes it all ok...you are not frumpy! Let us know what you get--nothing more fun than shopping for running clothes!

Oh yeah, go get a nice bright jacket! It'll definitely help. (Just call me the enabler LOL)

lol. i've thought about this before - i'm sure i can look like a shady bank robber some days, and i know i get a little weirded out by people in the winter 'cause of the dark/baggy clothes. those facemask things don't help either... :) i need to buy a non-black jacket!

I say wear what makes you comfortable!
Obnoxious orange? It'd get you noticed...
But, one that fits would probably make all the difference!

You are anything but dreary and frumpy. I can't imagine running in a coat; I'd overheat. But, if I had to choose one I'd go with a bright color. Bright colors help during the winter.
