Choose your superpower.
That's the theme of today's Take it and Run Thursday at Runners' Lounge.
Clearly, I need a superpower. Preferably one that will guard me from those errant steps that I regularly take. For example, let's look at today. If I had a superpower perhaps I would not have tripped over the mat in front of the cheese stand at the store. If I had not tripped, my ankle would not be sore and swollen. If my ankle was not sore and swollen, I would not be contemplating my ankle icing schedule. Instead, I would be contemplating this evening's run.
Alas, I am clumsy. And not clumsy in that, "Woo hoo, look at the cute girl with her stilettos all a-tangle, bravely keeping her cell phone to her ear and her latte to her lips," kind of way.
Nope, I'm clumsy in that, "Ooh, that must have hurt," kind of way.
You know that saying, "Have a nice trip. See you next fall," that kids say when a pal (or arch enemy, whatever) trips on the playground? No? You never tripped over your very own feet while do nothing more strenuous than lolling about on the playground? You never sprained your ankle going up the stairs? You never repeatedly stumbled while trying to make it to first base during a game of kickball?
Oh. It was just me, huh?
In that case, no one else will be clamoring for the anti-clumsy superpower. So I will take it and make it my own.
My superpower? I'll take the invisible Clumsaguard, thus shielding my fragile joints from further pain and suffering, allowing me to run on, those voices shouting, "Have a nice trip . . . See you next fall . . ." fading quickly behind me.

I could totally use that superpower. My mom said to me once, "I thought about you the other day." Oh yeah? "Yeah, I saw someone fall down for absolutely no reason."
Thanks, mom.
ROFL, errr, LOL, ummm, --- :O
(I was laughing WITH you not AT you).
You crack me up. Seriously though, at least you can joke about it. Hope your ankle feels better soon, Supergirl.
you are NOT the only one... i have countless stories of my trips and falls :)
I like that one, too. "Clumsaguard" sounds like something for your teeth. Or for the plumbing.
LOL. It's not just you. Seriously, I trip over my own feet walking, all the time. It's totally embarrassing! I need me some Clumsaguard, too!
Oh, no! Hope the ankle heals quickly. I am always banging into things around the house. I also have caused myself more harm than good over the years by immediately jumping up and brightly shouting "I'm okay!" when, of course, I'm not. Maybe Clumsaguard doesn't sound very sexy, but what a nice superpower to have.
Ouch! That doesn't sound like fun.
I think we can all use a little Clumsguard...just ask my knees which sport bruises in more colors than there are in the rainbow!
Ha! The worst is the two second pause before the entire cafateria starts clapping. Good times.
I run in to everything! Doors and walls, things that don't move.. so I may not trip, but I think that's still clumsy!
Plus you could probably do some matrix thing when you start to fall it's like slow mo and you bounce up..cool.
It's a consensus...we're all clumbsy with you.
I am always walking into things. But, this is my fault, I don't pay attention!
Teleportation? That would eliminate the need for exercise though...so maybe not! :) Enjoy your Halloween!
AWESOME! Ive never been all that clumsy but I get a big kick out of laughing at the folks that are. My favorite is the lady that falls on her way up the stairs at a movie, or slips on her ass when walking slowly on ice... so I thank you for all the humor you have brought me and the others that are as sick as I am for laughing.
Speaking of..
Last night I was out to dinner and a girl was wearing stiletto boots, TOTALLY ate it in the middle of the resturant! I think her heel and her ankle just went different ways. None the less, she got up and acted like nothing happened. This reminded me of that! Good superpower though!
