I may be a runner but I'd rather not have runner's knee, thanks.

Boo. Hiss.

Knee pain. Not too bad. Just slightly annoying.

Self-diagnosis: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome a.k.a. Runner's Knee.

Boo. Hiss.

I felt the pain on Tuesday, about a mile into my run, and ran through it. No pain after the run until later that night when I felt a pinch at the top of my knee. A little ice and ibuprofen seemed to do the trick but when I ran on Wednesday, I felt it again.

Boo. Hiss.

I took Thursday and Friday off and did some Shred workouts instead. On Saturday, I had planned to run a 5K but skipped it because I had Conal's party that afternoon and just way too much going on. So, another day off.

Yesterday, I decided to test it out on a 5-mile run. No problem. Today, though? I feel it. What gives?

I'll pull back a little this week and use some ice and Advil when necessary. Hopefully that will take care of it. It really isn't bad, just annoying.

Even with the knee thing, I had a great weekend! Two parties for my little two-year-old (toddler party on his birthday and then a family hoo-ha the next day). Fun. He loved it all. Especially the cupcakes. And I don't blame him because if there is one thing I can do, it's bake up a yummy cupcake and top it off with some butter-laden frosting goodness.

Now, the sun is shining and said toddler is napping. Happy Monday!

I hope a little extra rest takes care of the knee! How irritating.

Sounds like a great weekend, though.

I hope your knee stops doing that!

Glad you had a good weekend!

Naps and cupcakes. Did I ever outgrow that stage?

Sorry about the knee pain. The annoying things can be pretty bad, despite not being bad. At least they always make me second guess whether I'm worrying too much or too little. Sounds like you're doing just right. Hope the booing and hissing drives the pain away.

Ah, I suffer from the same dang thing. Runner's knee is the worst. It's so annoying! I find it goes away when I run faster...which isn't helping me on my easy runs!

Ugh, I hate when pain comes on like that for no good reason... I hope it's a fleeting annoyance!

Yeah, me too. But somethings just wishing something doesn't make it happen. Stupid knee.

I have had that knee pain and it is annoying. Rest definitely helped but it was hard to stay off it because it didn't hurt to walk and stuff. Hopefully the cupcakes will help it heal faster!

I have the same pfs and what seems to help on the long term is strenghtening exercises such as lunges with weights and going up lots of stairs.

Hope you can recover quickly.

hmm if you had runners knee I don't htink you would have made it through 5 miles. when I had it, I was down and out for a few weeks because once your knee slides out it takes a bit to work the strength back

I was diagnosed with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome a number of years back. The doctor told me to do a series of exercises, and that it would fix it. I was skeptical, but gave it a shot.

The main one I did was to lie on my back, and raise one leg 6 inches or so and hold it. Repeat on the other leg. Back, and forth. After a couple of weeks, the quad was really strengthened, and it helped immensely..

Simple exercise, so you're not out much if it doesn't work :)

Yuck! I had a bout of this during my training for the AZ marathon. My advice is to rest! Rest! and more REST! That's the only way it's going to heel. (oh and ice and drugs too.)

Sending speedy recovery thoughts your way.

I went to an orthopedic doctor the other day for the same thing. He gave me these $20 inserts and I am good to go. No more pain. You need to get them!

Boo! Hiss! I hope it feels better soon. Take it easy.

I get that randomly...I've gotten shoes with arch support and that's reduced it considerably, that and mixing up my running into run 5 min and walk 2 min alternations. I was also told to make sure I stretch out my ITB band to reduce strain on my knee. I don' t know why, but it halps a lot all combined.
