Five things Friday, ep. 6: And, Cans for Comments #2!

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your comments on yesterday's post. It's silly, I know and I am working to stop judging myself and comparing myself to others. I appreciate your kind words and sharing your own stories. It's good to know I'm not alone -- although I do wish that none of us judged ourselves!
  2. I have a FUN giveaway up at my other site. It's my Great Winter Motivation Booster package. Who doesn't need a little motivation these days, right? Well, go now and check it out!
  3. If you don't do any pushups for a week, and then try to jump right back into them . . . ouch!
  4. It's so freezing here! And so windy! We've been outside a bit here and there but, oh, man. It is so cold and tough to get out there. I'm hoping to get out for some sunny (and freezing cold) runs this weekend.
  5. Today is Friday and that means this is a Cans for Comments post! Last week was such a good start to the campaign. You all left a total of 37 comments so we're well on our way! Remember to leave a comment on this post to be counted in -- I'll donate a can of food for every 5 comments. Thank you!
Have a great weekend, everyone! Thanks for reading.

~ Felice

I'll agree that it is windy, but it is not freezing. Most of my family is in teh single digits right now, so I'll take temps in the 20s.

It's really cold & windy here too. Our gym was pretty empty this morning.

Stay warm & have a great Friday!

I'm putting this here so you can get a can for it. :-)

I compare myself to everyone. I compare my kids, my house, the size of my TV (yours is quite nice BTW. Sigh). Everything. I think it's human nature, but it's something I really try hard to stop doing.

When I read your blog the one thing that comes through more than anything else is that you LOVE running. LOVE. LOVE. It is inspiring. I know it's more than numbers to you. I think that's why you don't like the treadmill so much. I can't understand exactly what running means to you because I'm not a runner. I tried. I failed. I don't LOVE it. But it's so clear that you are a Capital-R Runner.

When I say you friggin' rock I totally mean it. You have a kid and you still run! You run OUTSIDE. At night when I am sitting on the couch with a bag of cheese doodles.

Any time you need to compare yourself, think of me, on that couch with my cheese doodles, and think of you, kicking ass running. There may be other runners faster than you. But you will ALWAYS be faster than ME. :-)

Great Giveaway Idea Felice. Great job on your can project. I think that's an excellent plan. It is really cold here (PA) too. I think, more or less, it's the freakn wind though. Hey, stay warm and have a great day.

Cold day here too. It was the first time we've had to use hand warmers for the walk to school this school year.

Happy Friday!

it is SUPER windy here! honestly that is the worst part. I can handle the cold and the snow but NOT the wind! Hope you have a great weekend!!

One day last week I put hand warmers in my gloves when I went out for a run on a chilly morning. I felt like a princess running down the street with warm and toasty hands! Sometimes I'm pretty easy to please! ; )

Gah. The COLD is brutal here as well. Have a good weekend.

It's cold here, too! But I am probably just a sissy in your eyes when I say it's cold because it is 35-45 out when I want to run and I keep going to gym :( FAIL!
Can I comment more then once so that we can get the count up? I'll give it a try! :)

You rock! Here is my 1/5th of a can. On Wednesday I got out an ran in the freezing cold weather for 7 miles! Woohoo! Ok, so it was only 40 but for me that's north pole weather. :)

My daughter's 4th grade teacher is helping her learn this invaluable lesson; that when we compare ourselves to others, we often forget that we don't know the other person's full "story". When Sophie is the last one to turn in her math assignment and beats herself up because she's "stupider" than the others and takes longer to get the answers, she doesn't know that the other 5 kids in front of her turned in their assignments completely wrong. We look at others but don't know their full story. Stop comparing, do the best you can, and know that YOU are living your best life.
