Bit the bullet.

After years of complaining (really, years), I finally made an appointment to see a podiatrist about my bunionized toe. But, get this -- the earliest appointment I could get is June 10th. That's over two months from today. Where's the instant gratification in that? Nowhere, that's where.

And you know where else there is no instant gratification? Shoe shopping. I took all of your great advice about shoes and went hunting for a new pair. Ha! That was a big failure. I believe that I tried on almost every brand that people suggested and the shoes either didn't work with my toe or they were out of stock in my size. So, online I went!

That was a bummer, too. A lot of out of stock shoes, which means I may have to resort to wearing my Birkenstock clogs out of the house. In public. These guys. I mean, they're fine. It's just . . . well, they're ugly. And they're my inside shoes. They are, more or less, my ugly slippers. It's just weird.

I'm sure I'll get over it.

Speaking of getting over it, I'm so over that mean, mean lady in the minivan. Thank you all for supporting my rant! It helped.

I would like to make one thing clear, however: I have nothing against minivan mamas. Nothing. I drive a station wagon, after all (Yes, I know. You pictured me in a sporty coupe, right? Sorry to disappoint.).

Happy Monday, everyone!

bummer about the lack of instant gratification re: bunion doctor and shoe shopping. :-(

I hate when it takes forever to get into the dr!

I hate it when you can't get into the doctors. Three months is a long wait!

sucks that it'll take so long for your appt, but at least you made it :)

I'm too scared to make a doc appt for my toe. I do not want to hear the "S" word. So far the splint has been helping, I think. And I definitely think my asics were making it worse. I can only wear them on shorter runs.

I apologize on the behalf of all doctors...if only I knew toes...

First of all - that mini-van lady is really mean! Mean, mean lady. Second of all - I personally don't think birkenstocks are ugly. I used to be a birkenstock girl! That was back in the day after I spent my summer in Yellowstone working and being crunchy. But- Still - I have a fond memory of my birks and I love them to this day. You should wear them and wear them proudly!

That totally stinks you have to wait so long for the doctor. I could never drive a minivan - and i never really pictured you driving one. lol

Ugh! 2 months? How come he's so busy?

I dread shoe shopping. I mean, I love new shoes and am relieved when the buying process is over, but I have to try everything out too. Hope you find one real soon!

Sorry you didn't have any luck with the shoe shopping. I hate it when I go shopping with something specific in mind that I really want and can't find it!

2 months! I hope it doesn't bother you too much between now and then!

That's a long time to wait for the doc!

My hub always makes fun of my hideous Birkenstock clogs, but they're sooo comfy.

i hate when docs have their next 'available' appointment forever out. hope you can make it til then. i had to drive the family van in high school... so i don't hate on the minivan mama's either :) i think those birks are cute, but i can understand the need for another pair. good luck in the search.

Sorry about the shoe shopping! I hate when you plan on getting something, try really hard- and then walk out with nothing!

Best of luck with the podiatrist. Two months away is crazy- but hopefully they'll make it worth it.

Doctors suck like that.

Those shoes are fine! Then again, I wear crocs...so I don't think I'm one to go to for fashion. (hey, the crocs are comfy!) I even wear them to teach! lol.

2 months!? That's nuts. No wonder real doctors are losing business to goole. ;o)

I drive a station wagon too, and I'm neither wife nor mother!

Damn...2 months. Who knew podiatrists were so popular right now.
