So my mother would like an Ab Rocket Abdominal Trainerfor Christmas. She saw an infomercial for it and looked good to her and that's what she's asked for.
The problem: I don't go for infomercials. Nor do I go for ab trainers and the like. But, it's the one thing that she has explicitly said that she wants.
What do I do?
I checked out the thing on Amazon and it has received decent reviews. Have any of you tried it? Do you know anyone who has? What do you -- or they -- think of it? What do you think of these ab training devices anyway?
I'm in a quandary!

Never tried it, and I would tend to steer away from infomercial gadgets, but if its what your mom wants, then get it for her. I always make exceptions for my mom!
I say if that is what she wants - then get it for her. She asked for something specific and that alone is half the battle! Trying to get my parents to tell me what they want is impossible.
My mom had something like this and used it for a while before storing it. What's more important is that you're mom asked for it and wants it...mom's trump preferences most of the time!
My mom loves infomercials too...and I dont get into them either :=}
Anyway, I'm with Bridget...getting specific requests from parents who already have what they need is a gem. Go get an Ab rocket trainer!!! Hee Hee!!!
The downside of those abs things is that it's extremely easy to cheat. If you don't focus on form, you end up using your legs or back or neck or anything besides your abs.
With that said, I'd get it for her too. Moms are tricky to think of gifts.
Haven't used it either, so I'm no help. But that's one less gift to think about!
Am I the only who actually likes infomercials?? I'm always tempted to buy something when I watch them late at night. Not that I ever have... hehe.
I'm with the others, I'd get it for my mom... if she asked for it, especially! :-)
I know nothing about the rocket but I do know that I LOVE YOUR MOM and her interesting in trying new things.
I say get it for her :) in that THATS WHAT KEEPS US YOUNG, right?
although now that I type it Im thinking there is a real possibility that she is young...and Im projecting.
:)
Miz.
I have to agree with the group on this one. I agree with you that infomercial gadgets and ab devices are not generally the greatest products, but we are talking about your Mom and what she wants. If this is what your Mom wants, then get it for her. Maybe we are all overthinking this, and she will rock this thing and develop abs of steel.
Oh, I was about to say, you know, I would get it, I would be pleased with my mom, etc., etc., etc., but then I realized I am me and therefore would give her a longish lecture on how she should forget the gimmicks and I can teach her a few very nice rocket-free abs moves if she'd like.
But I am a jerk. A bad daughter. A spoilsport. You are not! Get her the rocket. And then mock it, just a little, but only on your blog.
I am just amazed that your mom wants that! ha ha love it! :)
I've found that if my mom thinks it will make her exercise...it won't but I get it anyways in hopes that it will.
