Hello, morning.

I am really not a morning person and have never been much of a morning runner. I'm more of a night owl and morning sleeper.

However. Yesterday the temperatures crept into the 90s and when I tried to go for a run at 5:30pm it was just too hot and so I bagged it walked instead. I wanted none of that today so I woke up at 6:45 and went for a run.

It's a different world out there at 7am!

First, it is quiet. Second, the wildlife is out and about. I saw a turkey in the back yard and there was a whole gang of geese and goslings near one of the ponds in my neighborhood. They hissed at me a little but otherwise didn't seem to mind that I was on their turf.

It was also already getting quite warm (over 70* when I got back to the house) so I'm glad I got my run in when I did. There's no way I'd be able to do it tonight!

So, for today at least, just call me the Morning Runner (not to steal the moniker from blogging buddy J, but it applies for now!). We'll see how long I keep this up. I'm thinking positively and planning to get up for another early run tomorrow. But, who knows?

Happy Wednesday!

~Felice

I love running in the morning. Especially during the spring/summer months. It sets a good tone to the day :)

Good for you for finding a way to get your workout in. My husband told me this morning that he want's to start working out in the am before work. That's great for the two of you, but this girl likes her sleep! :)

Another great thing about running early that I found the other day - automatic sprinklers! These are usually not on when I run at 9, but a ton were on when I ran at 6:15 the other day! If you need a quick cool off, there is nothing like being a kid again and taking a little run through to cool you off durning your run!

This weather definitely calls for morning running! I'm due to meet my training group for a 10K tonight at 6:30 and it's going to be awful.

I am loving all the morning running right now because it is before ALL the humidity can come out :)

Hi Felice! I am typically an evening runner but when I saw the forecast for today last night I had the same thoughts as you! I laced up my sneakers at 6:30 this morning for four miles and it was great! Definitely a different world. I even saw a blue heron! And, like Amanda said, it starts the day off right. I will be a happy camper for the rest of the day :)

Oh I love it! You are the happy morning runner! Great job! It sure has been hot and even in the mornings I have been dripping with sweat!

I'm so glad I found your blog. I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and ran through 33 weeks. I am now walking about 3 miles a day and though I want to be done with being pregnant I feel so much better this time than my first time. I hope you don't mind if I follow, you are an inspiration!

I always do much better with running in the morning - though sometimes it's tough to remind myself of that when the alarm goes off at 5:30 AM :)

We have lots of hissing geese around here, too. I just try to hold my breath and avoid contact when I run by 'em!

Good for you! I used to run in the mornings a long time ago but then got the lazy bug! Everyone is right, you do feel awesome for the rest of the day. As for the Geese-I'm terrified of them so I probably would have altered my route. You show those Geese that it's your turf too!

Great work!

I love the morning! I dont know if I am a morning person per-say, but I do live being out before most of the world.

Early morning runs are my favorite! I love running as the sun comes up and that my kids are still asleep when I get home...

I have no love for waking up, but once I'm up I do love morning runs (keep in mind I'm talking about 8-8:30 here, before that might as well be midnight for me). The wildlife is out, and it just feels... like the whole world is mine and I can go anywhere I want. I dunno. Love it.

But I have to say my fave months to run are when it's perfectly temperate (and still light) after work. After work I have so much energy to release and I can run faster/further/easier!

That is too funny that you found 70 to be warm. Just this morning we were commenting on how cool it was - unseasonably cool and found the temp was 77F with 85% humidity. I'd be FROZEN at 70F (and was, all winter). :)
