'Milling about.

You know what I'm really enjoying these days? My treadmill. Isn't that weird? Yeah, I know. It even makes me shake my head.

But I'm running on the treadmill these days because I want to, not because I have to. That's the difference. Although the weather has been perfect for outdoor running for a while now, I've been running on the treadmill once a week. And it makes me feel good because I'm making the most of my time -- I'm running on the 'mill while Conal naps.

Yesterday was a treadmill tempo run. Warm-up, tempo at 8/mi pace, cool-down. Oh, and I tossed in a quick little quarter mile at 5k pace (7:20 -- I hope!) because I felt like it. 5.5 miles total. All while my little guy slept.

Today I'll run outside and then tomorrow . . . well, tomorrow is big. Tomorrow I will take the day off and cheer for my husband while he runs our local Corporate Challenge 3.5 mile race. Yay! I'm so rarely the spectator in the relationship and Owen is always a great spectator/supporter so it will be a nice change.

Off to play some (more...) golf!

My husband loves the treadmill. I have a more love/hate relationship with it. I'm learning to like it more, but still enjoy running outside if the weather is good. I think it has a lot to do with a big mirror infront of the ones at our gym. I really don't like watching myself my entire workout. :)

Best wishes to your husband! Hope it goes well!

I used to run on the treadmill about 5 times a week. It never bothered me. Now that I run outside every day, I'm not sure I could go back, but when I did it, I was fine.

That sounds like a very productive naptime!

Have fun spectating. GO OWEN!

Glad to hear your liking it! I don't...yet, but maybe if I had one at home it'd be different.
GO HUBBY!

I can't run on a treadmill, so I applaud your commitment. Hopefully when I have kids, I'll be able to successful juggle it all like you supermoms.

Isn't spectating fun once in awhile? Good luck to your husband!

Your post reminds me of a friend of mine in grad school who used to multitask by setting her infant in his carseat in front of the gym treadmill while we ran. I say, keep getting in these runs while you can-- at some point the afternoon nap days when you get some free time on the 'mill are gonna be over!

Spectating can be fun! I have been hitting the treadmill for speedwork lately, mostly because I'm afraid to do speedwork outside, I'm worried I will fail! So cdeers to treadmills :)

The corporate challange race is next thursday for us. I am thinking about running it because it is held at my college campus. I snuck in last year too. I have yet to run a Corporate challange race with a company...maybe next year!

That's great that you can get in a run during nap time. I don't have a treadmill, so I'd have to run around in circles in my living room, which might make me dizzy.

Have fun with the toddler golf! :)

Good luck to your hubby! And hey, as long as you are enjoying the 'Mill, then that's cool. Don't ask questions, just be thankful that you ARE enjoying it for the time being. Those moments are rare!

Amazed at people who chose to run on treadmills, I get the napping kiddo aspect for you. Me I CAN'T run on a treadmill, I think it is because I am so darn tall, 6 feet + with shoes. Give me 15+ miles outside but put me on a treadmill and I look like a Gufus with 3 left feet.

Luck to your hubby!!

hate to admit it (because the weather here is GORGEOUS) but, aside from races, I've been allll over that treadmill too. I hear ya.

have fun being a "spectator/cheerer" tomorrow :)

I remember the days when I was so frustrated because I couldn't go out to exercise while my kids slept. What I would have given for a treadmill or a spin bike!! You're awesome that you've figured out how to incorporate it into your week without having it take over your life. You're one smart cookie!

I don't mind the treadmill. Sometimes it's nice to be on autopilot and not have to worry about tripping on a sidewalk, etc.

Yay for spectating! It can be soooo fun!

You lucky thing. I think I could only love the treadmill if there was a big, huge movie screen in front of it and Rocky on loop... Is this what you're doing? :)

I would love my treadmill more if it didn't hate me so much!! haha! Enjoy spectating, it is a nice change every now and then!

I have a feeling the treadmill will be my friend this summer when the kids have no school and I can't very well leave them to fend for themselves while I go run!

But here's the weird thing, I feel GUILTY about running on the treadmill when it's a nice day outside. It's like I owe it to nature to get out there or something....

Glad you are enjoying the 'mill. It's all about getting the run in, so whatever works. Enjoy spectating. Aww...Conal must look so cute spectating!

Go, Owen!!!!!!!!!!

Some days I wish I had a mill to squeeze quick runs in while the kids are otherwise preoccupied.

great way to get your runs in! I may need to learn to love it once i get the ok to run... slightly lower impact than outside.

Wow, you are running the treadmill by choice?! I guess if I had a kid like you do, I would end up doing the same. Do you have a nice view to look at anyway?
